Does anyone blog anymore?

A question I ask myself regularly: Does anyone blog anymore?

Many movies of the 2000s portrayed a world where blogging could be a gateway to a different life, even a secret one, where no one knew who you were, and your blog or website could become a household name. The internet was a reasonably new place to hang out. Now, 20-plus years later, social media is the place to be.

The internet is absolutely flooded with information and entertainment. We can scroll endlessly, randomly giggling at our little screens.

Yet, the place for the blog hasn’t completely disappeared; there is a blog for just about anything. Personally, I still look up blogs for information. For example, anytime I want to travel somewhere new, I read several blogs to cross-check details about a place. Or if I’m looking up fashion trends, I’ll start with Google, then Pinterest, and eventually stumble across random blog posts, looking at all the inspiration.

So yes, the blog is alive and well, but I wonder about the blogs that served as personal diaries. The ones that simply shared stories without the need to be “informational.” What about blogs that capture the day-to-day, the funny, ordinary moments of life that we can all relate to? This is what I think about. I’d love a front-row seat, reading the short stories made long. I crave that kind of entertainment. Entertainment that captures the realness of life.

We often hear that, because of our attachment to phones and social media, many of us don’t have the attention span to read beyond a short Instagram or TikTok caption. But maybe we need to rebuild our attention spans, and maybe some of us should start blogging again. Real people and real stories are interesting.

Blah, blah, blah, or should I say, blog, blog, blog.
